Track Action at the 2025 MotoGP™ Qatar Airways Grand Prix of Qatar

Lusail International Circuit (LIC) demonstrates a strong commitment to nurturing talent, both locally through initiatives like the Qatar Motorsports Academy (QMA) and globally by hosting a multitude of support races. The venue has showcased this dedication across various events, including F1® Academy during the 2024 FORMULA 1 QATAR AIRWAYS QATAR GRAND PRIX, catering to classic car enthusiasts through events like the Lusail Classic during the FIA World Endurance Championship - Qatar 1812 KM, and serving general motorsport fans with series such as the Porsche Carrera Cup, among many others.

The 2025 MotoGP™ Qatar Airways Grand Prix of Qatar will feature a comprehensive lineup of support races that showcase emerging talent and provide spectators with a full weekend of motorcycle racing action at Lusail International Circuit from April 11-13, 2025.

Tissot MotoGP Sprint Race

Lusail International Circuit will also be hosting the MotoGP™ sprint this season across countries including Thailand, Argentina, USA, Spain, France, and more. Sprints run at half the normal race distance, with championship points awarded to the top nine finishers.

Grid positions for both the sprint and Sunday's main race are determined by the qualifying sessions. Fuel is limited to 12 liters for sprints compared to 22 liters for grand prix races.

Track limits violations have been reduced from five to three before penalties are applied, and any penalties from sprint races carry over to the main Grand Prix.

Moto2 and Moto3

As integral championship categories within the MotoGP™ weekend, both Moto2 and Moto3 showcase tomorrow's elite talent on the same world-class circuit. The Moto3 class features 250cc single-cylinder four-stroke engines delivering nimble, pack-racing action, while Moto2 runs standardized 765cc Triumph triple-cylinder engines amping up the stakes.

Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup

The Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup, a motorcycle road racing competition which began in 2017, is designed for young riders in the Asia and Oceania regions. The series serves as a vital pathway for identifying and developing regional talent, as evidenced by riders like Ai Ogura and Somkiat Chantra becoming the first Asia Talent Cup graduates to debut in the top-flight MotoGP™ World Championship 2025.

The 2025 season began with pre-season testing at Chang International Circuit in Thailand from February 21-22, followed by Round 1 at the same venue from February 28-March 2. The 4.55 km Thai circuit, featuring 7 right turns and 5 left turns, provided riders with their first competitive challenge of the season before they head to Qatar for Round 2.

The championship is currently led by Japanese rider Ryota Ogiwara with 50 points, followed by compatriot Seiryu Ikegami with 40 points. Thai rider Noprutpong Bunprawes and Japanese rider Haruki Matsuyama are tied at 29 points, holding third and fourth positions respectively.
